How to Enable Face ID and Fingerprint Login on the Binance App

2026-04-21 · 10 min read

Entering your password and 2FA every time is tedious. This article explains how to set up Face ID, Fingerprint, or Pattern login to access your account in a second.

Entering your password and Authenticator code every time you open the Binance App can be frustrating. Enabling Face ID reduces this to just one second. First, ensure your app is the genuine Binance Official App downloaded from the Binance Official Website (see the iOS Installation Tutorial for iPhone), then set up biometric recognition.

What Biometrics Can Do in Binance

It’s more than just logging in. Biometrics can replace passwords in several scenarios:

Scenario Default Requirement With Face ID
Login Password + 2FA One-time Face ID
App Unlock Re-login Face ID
Withdrawal Confirmation Password + 2FA + Email Code Face ID + 2FA
Internal Transfer Password Face ID
API Modification Password Face ID

Note that high-risk actions like withdrawals still require 2FA; Face ID only replaces the password part of the verification.

Setting Up Face ID on iOS

Prerequisites

Face ID must be enabled on the device itself (Settings → Face ID & Passcode → Face registered).

Steps

  1. Open the Binance App.
  2. Tap the Profile icon → Security → Biometrics / Face ID.
  3. Toggle the switch to ON.
  4. A system prompt will appear: "Binance wants to use Face ID" → Tap OK.
  5. Confirm your identity once using your account password.
  6. Done.

The next time you open the app, it will automatically prompt for Face ID.

Touch ID (Same Logic)

Older iPhones (like the SE series) use Touch ID. The path is exactly the same.

Setting Up Fingerprint on Android

Prerequisites

A fingerprint must already be registered in the system settings.

Steps

  1. Open the Binance App.
  2. Go to Profile → Security → Fingerprint Login.
  3. Toggle ON.
  4. Verify your fingerprint once.
  5. Done.

Note for Custom Android ROMs

Some domestic ROMs offer an "App Lock" feature with fingerprint support. That is a system-level feature, whereas the one in the Binance App is app-level.

Both can coexist: you might need a fingerprint to unlock the system's App Lock and another within the app for operations. Usually, you don't need to enable both.

Use Cases

Recommended For:

  • Personal devices used only by you.
  • Users who need to check market prices frequently.
  • Those who want to avoid typing long passwords.

Not Recommended For:

  • Public computers or shared iPads.
  • Phones frequently lent to others.
  • Jailbroken devices (system-level Face ID may be compromised).

Security Trade-offs

Once Face ID is enabled, anyone who can unlock your iPhone's lock screen could theoretically access your Binance App.

To mitigate risks:

  1. Use a strong lock screen passcode (6 digits or alphanumeric).
  2. Enable "Face ID required to open app" within the app settings.
  3. Keep 2FA enabled for important operations.
  4. Set an "Auto-lock" timer (e.g., re-authenticate after 5 minutes of inactivity).

When Face ID Might Fail

  • Wearing sunglasses or a large mask (on iPhone 11 and older).
  • Cracked screen obstructing the front camera.
  • System deemed insecure after an iOS update.

In these cases, you can always fall back to password login.

Disabling Face ID

If you are lending your phone to someone or returning a work device:

App → Profile → Security → Toggle off Biometrics.

Alternatively, log out and log back in without re-enabling it.

Multiple Accounts

If you use multiple accounts on the Binance App, the biometric setting is independent for each account. You must enable it for each one separately.

Are Authenticator and Face ID Substitutes?

No.

  • Face ID = App Unlock (replaces password).
  • Authenticator = Theft Protection (replaces nothing).

They complement each other. Even with Face ID enabled, withdrawals, security setting changes, and API actions still require an Authenticator code.

FAQ

Q: Can I log in if I forget my password after enabling Face ID? A: Face ID is a shortcut. You still need to remember your account password, as the system will periodically ask for it during critical operations.

Q: Does Face ID still work after upgrading to a new iPhone? A: No. Log in on your new iPhone and re-enable biometrics.

Q: Face ID suddenly stopped working? A: Toggle it off and on again in the app settings, or log out and log back in.

Q: Will Apple Handoff use Face ID across devices? A: No. Biometric data is stored locally on each device.

Q: How do I handle dual-face setups (e.g., family mode) on iPad? A: It is recommended not to enable Face ID for Binance on shared iPads. Use password + Authenticator instead.
